The books have been adapted into a movie, a television series, video games, and a comic book series.

The first novel in the series, Wiedźmin (The Witcher), was published in Poland in 1992. This was followed by two short story collections which were released in 1993 and 1995; the first of these collections contains stories which take place before the events of the mainseries, while the second consists of tales which are set after those described in the novels. A third collection of short stories, Miecz przeznaczenia (Sword of Destiny), was published in Poland in 1996; it includes stories set both before and after Witcher Saga. These three books were translated into English and published by Gollancz between 2007 and 2008.

In 1997, Sapkowski published Sekretny dziennik Wilkolina Szczerbatek (Wilkolak’s Secret Diary), a humorous journal written from the perspective of a young Witcher-in-training; this book has not yet been translated into English. He followed this up with Wiedźmin Śmierć wiedźmina (The Witcher: Death of the Witcher) in 1999; an English translation was released by Gollancz under the title Baptism of Fire in 2011.

Sapkowski then wrote Pani Jeziora (Lady of the Lake), the fifth and final novel in the Witcher Saga, which waspublished in Poland in 1999. An English translation was released by Gollancz in 2007; this edition included several chapters which had been cut from previous translations of earlier books in the series due to space constraints. In addition to Pani Jeziora, four more standalone novels have been released by Sapkowski: Narrenturm (2002), Krew elfów(2004), Chrzest ognia (2006), and Czarne czysło(2008). An English translation of Narrenturm was published under the title Tower of Swallows by Gollancz on 6 May 2021; translations of Krew elfówand Chrzest ognia are forthcoming from Orbit Books later this year.
